Regulars Part Deux
We have a new regular. He showed up two weeks ago and has been showing up every day since. His name is Elastic Pants Man. Can you guess who came up with his name?
So anyways, EPM got his name because he always wears brown pants with an elastic waistband. You can see the elastic because he also always wears a white undershirt tucked into said elastic band. He shows up in the morning and often stays until the store closes.
What does he do all day you ask?
1. Reads our books, mostly comics and local history without paying.
2. Talks loudly for hours at a time on his cell phone, often spouting strange political ideas..
3. Plays games on his laptop using the free wifi and the not free electricity.
4. Naps.
5. Gets free cups of ice water from the cafe.
6. Lets employees know about his various successful business ventures.
7. Smells bad.

Wow! You have some seriously wacky people coming into your store. Poor guy! Clearly his successful business ventures haven't kept him from "living" in a Borders. I agree 100% with lightbulb man.
These crack me up. I'm sure its only funny because I really don't have to see or deal with these people. But I share it with Ryan. We were laughing so hard over Mr. Poopman.
I think that guy lives in my apartment complex. He wears elastic shorts (shirt tucked in) and loafers. And he always goes jogging around and around the inside of our complex. I can sometimes hear him shuffling by at night and I don't even have to look out the window to know it's him.
Even if you think your job sucks, you at least have these funny memories to look back on!
Oh my gosh, your posts make me want to come to work with you! It would be so funny to see these people in action and to see your reactions! I love it! Actually it is good to have these various people broken down so we can all never become like any of them.
Lindsay some day you are going to have to write a how-to-survive Borders book for future employees or maybe just a novel of the crazy life working at borders.
